Hut 8 Takes 80% Control of Trump-Linked Bitcoin Mining Firm in Expansion Strategy

A report from The Wall Street Journal on Monday revealed that Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump have invested in Bitcoin of America, a new cryptocurrency mining company. The business is 80% controlled by Hut 8 Mining Corp., while the Trump family holds a 20% minority ownership.

The joint venture operates a mining facility with more than 61,000 dedicated ASIC rigs, one of the largest cryptocurrency mining centers in the United States.

The news comes shortly after Trump Media and Technology Group Corp. (TMTG) announced plans to partner with Crypto.com to launch a series of cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and separately managed accounts (SMAs) later this year. Bitcoin of America will partner with the Trump family’s American Data Center, creating a major strategic alliance in the Bitcoin mining industry.

Trump family expands its influence in the cryptocurrency industry

The investment also coincides with Eric Trump’s appointment to the strategic advisory board of Metaplanet, a company that holds the largest Bitcoin treasury in Japan. In addition, a SPAC affiliated with Trump Media is also being promoted to fund cryptocurrency and dual-use technology projects led by the Trump family.

Since his victory in the 2024 election, Donald Trump has declared his strong support for the cryptocurrency industry. Recent moves by Trump Sons show that the Trump family is gradually expanding its influence into the field of Bitcoin mining and blockchain technology, reinforcing its commitment to the development of the cryptocurrency ecosystem in the US.
